PLUS – Stage 3 opening later this year with Coles, Liquorland, Fairfield Fresh Market & Deli + additional new specialty retail stores.

In February 2019, Fairfield Central experienced an unprecedented weather event and was forced to temporarily close.

The recovery effort is well underway, and we are doing all we can to get the centre back online for retailers, employees and the community -everyone who relies on the centre for their livelihoods and everyday needs.

The positive messages of support over the past month have been truly humbling. For our retailers in particular, it has been extremely comforting to hear how much they’re missed and how much you’re all looking forward to coming back to the centre.

Our thoughts go out to our neighbours who have also suffered in this event.

We will be back bigger and better than ever before-and we look forward to welcoming you all when we do.

Centre Status

What's the current status of the centre?

Fairfield Central Shopping Centre has reopened, with Woolworths, BWS, Cafe Bambini, a pop-up Kazza’s Barber Shop and mobile Australia Post office all trading at the Centre. Kmart and more specialty stores will reopen soon.

What is the expected reopening time frame?

Woolworths  is open and has resumed regular trade.

Kmart are committed to reopening to service the community and are working hard to reopen by early May.

We are working with all tenants to get them reopened –this will be done on a staged approach due to varying fit-out lead times. We will relay updates to the public as this information comes to hand.

The stage 3 expansion, including Coles, Liquorland and 16 specialty stores, is on track to open in Q3 (August-September) this year.

What progress has been made to repair the centre?

Clean up works were carried out very quickly once it was safe to re-enter the centre. All walls in the centre up to a height of 1.2m have been removed, including walls, benches, shelving, stock and more in order to provide a fresh and clean start for new store fit-outs.

As part of the sanitisation process, all surfaces have been washed, scrubbed and wiped down. De-humidifiers are located throughout the centre removing all remaining moisture left inside. This process is expected to take around 3 weeks and time frames for individual stores are dependent on when the works commenced. Once this is complete, tenancies will be handed back to business owners to commence brand new fit-outs of their shops.
